Last week a group of principled conservatives in the U.S. House of Representatives did what Speaker of the House Paul Ryan will never do – they went on offense against the corrupt cabal protecting Hillary Clinton, James Comey, Robert Mueller and the rest of the insiders protecting the worst villains of the Obama-era swamp.
Congressman Andy Biggs (AZ-05) led a special order on the U.S. House floor to shed light on the conflicts of interest of those in the previous administration. Joining Congressman Biggs on the floor were Rep. Mark Meadows, Rep. Jim Jordan, Rep. Matt Gaetz, Rep. Trent Franks, Rep. Louie Gohmert, Rep. Scott Perry, Rep. Ted Yoho, and Rep. Jody Hice.
The topics covered included Robert Mueller, James Comey, Uranium One, Fusion GPS, the Trump dossier, Hillary Clinton, and the Clinton Foundation.
Congressman Biggs gave these remarks in his opening statement:
“As I recall the events of the past two years, it becomes clearer than ever that Robert Mueller should resign. If he does not resign, then he should be fired. We believe he has conflicts of interest that do not allow him to proceed with his investigation in an unbiased, independent manner. Further, he has broadened the scope of his investigation far beyond his charge to examine Russian interference in the 2016 Presidential election. In the process, he is helping to destroy the integrity, perception, and credibility of the American justice system.”
Watch the individual clips from the participating members:
Congressman Andy Biggs’ Opening Remarks – “Congress has sought answers from the previous administration for many years. Without exception, the Obama administration stonewalled these attempts.”
Congressman Matt Gaetz’s Remarks – “We are at risk of a coup d’etat in this country if we allow an unaccountable person, with no oversight, to undermine the duly-elected President of the United States.”
Congressman Jim Jordan’s Remarks – “Why, in 2016, would James Comey call the Clinton investigation a ‘matter,’ not an ‘investigation’? Last time I checked, he wasn’t the Director of the Federal Bureau of Matters.”
Congressman Mark Meadows’ Remarks – “The point is to recognize that there are legitimate, unanswered questions about whether the Obama Justice Department involved themselves in a political project targeting then-candidate Donald Trump—a suggestion that has far more evidence behind it than the directionless investigation into Trump-Russian collusion.”
Congressman Trent Franks’ Remarks – “Could Mr. Mueller be acting with vengeance? Or to vindicate his good friend and colleague James Comey, who had a very public feud with the president?”
Congressman Scott Perry’s Remarks – “It is far past time to thoroughly investigate this [Uranium One] deal, the Obama administration’s actions, and the Clinton family’s role.”
Congressman Louie Gohmert’s Remarks – “We’ve got to clean this town up, and it will start with the resignation of Mr. Mueller and a proper investigation of all of this underlying case involving Comey, Lynch, the Clintons, and Russia.”
Congressman Ted Yoho’s Remarks – “My hope is that there is a conclusion to an investigation, and that the people who broke the law are held accountable, so that we don’t have to talk about another investigation that spends the American taxpayers’ money without somebody paying the price for misrepresenting the American people and turning over strategic products of this country – uranium, in this case – to a foreign entity that doesn’t want the best for America.”
Congressman Jody Hice’s Remarks – “The fact is the United States did not remain vigilant. Our foreign policy suffered. We ignored the fact that Russian interests and goals are not our interests and goals. Nothing demonstrates this more than the Uranium One case.”
Congressman Andy Biggs’ Closing Remarks – “I renew my call for Robert Mueller’s resignation; short of that, his termination of employment. This is the scandal of our time. It affects our national security and the views of the American people for justice and on elections.”
It should surprise no steady read of CHQ that this lengthy “Special Order” received no coverage in the establishment media – despite the fact that it covered in great detail the conflicts of interest and cover-up that intertwine the Clintons, James Comey, Robert Mueller, the Uranium One pay-to-play scandal and Fusion GPS.
Representative Biggs, a member of the House Judiciary Committee, has been especially critical of Mueller’s investigation, and his take, as expressed in a recent news release, is much the same as ours:
In May, Robert Mueller was appointed special counsel to investigate alleged Russian meddling in the 2016 Presidential election. Yet, Mueller’s investigation seems to be careening far beyond the scope or breadth of his original charge. Unfortunately, taxpayer resources are being used to investigate anyone and anything that fits into a preconceived notion that Russia colluded with the Trump Administration to ‘fix the election.’
Americans should be concerned with Mr. Mueller’s unlimited reach. Freedom has few greater enemies than a government prosecutor, equipped with boundless authority and resources, who steps outside the constraints of his investigation. Is Mueller a representative of our constitutional republic, or would he rather be a KGB agent under the old Soviet Union? The way he has conducted and unilaterally expanded his investigation; the subordinates he has hired; the persistent leaks from his office; and his abuse of attorney-client privilege – would all suggest his preference for authoritarian tactics.
Mueller is incapable of leading a focused, unbiased investigation. I continue to demand his recusal while supporting the joint investigation by the House Judiciary and Oversight committees to hold hearings concerning the DNC and Clinton campaign collusion, and other potential crimes under the former administration. These congressional hearings must proceed with alacrity, and the Mueller witch hunt must end. The credibility and integrity of the American justice system – and indeed, our representative republic – are at stake.”
Congressman Biggs is right; Mueller is incapable of leading a focused, unbiased investigation and Americans should be not just concerned – they should be outraged and frightened – that such an out-of-control witch hunt, using all the assets and power of the federal government, is being conducted against private citizens whose alleged crimes are well beyond the remit of the Special Counsel.
